IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY? HMM...

It's Christmas Day here in the frozen northlands of Edmonton, Alberta. For anyone not familiar with this topography, we're just south of the tundra, but not by much. This is where the oilpatch workers wait out the autumn until the muskeg hardens enough to truck their heavier equipment into the patch so they can get that black-gold out of the ground; one of the non-renewable resources that makes this such a rich province. Mind you, if you walked around our downtown, you might question the validity of such wealth. Our homeless are many and, to our shame, visibly freezing to death this year. For some, the way to anything resembling Christmas may seem as far away and steep as this moving staircase...for others, there is probably no place to turn and Christmas is just another day for them...
